Do You Know Jesus?

You tell Him. You admit you've been running your own life, you believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died in your place and rose again, and you hand Him the keys. That's it — there's no ceremony, no waiting period, and no one who has to be present. Many men use a prayer to put it into words, but the words are not what saves you. Jesus does.

It's a short prayer a man says to tell God he believes in Jesus and is turning from the life he's been living. It isn't found word-for-word in the Bible and it isn't a formula — it's simply a way to say out loud what you've decided. If the words on this page aren't yours, use your own. God is listening for your heart, not your vocabulary.

No. No prayer saves a man by being recited correctly. Scripture says that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). A prayer is how a lot of men put that into words. The words are the doorway, not the door.

Every man at our table has thought that about something. The whole point of the cross is that the debt was already paid, in full, before you ever came looking. There is no sin you can bring that Jesus didn't already die for, and nothing you can confess that will make Him change His mind about you.

Probably, yes. Feelings are weather — they come and go with sleep, stress, and what happened at work. Your standing with God isn't built on how tonight felt. Some men weep; most feel quiet, or nothing at all, and only notice months later that things have changed. Keep reading, keep talking to Him, and get around other men who know Him.

Four things, in order: tell one real person today, start reading the Gospel of John a chapter a night, talk to God like He's in the room with you, and don't try to do this alone. That last one is the one men skip, and it's the one that decides whether anything actually changes.

No. Salvation is between you and Jesus, not you and a membership roll. But you were never built to follow Him alone, and men who try it privately tend to quietly drift. Find believers who will know you honestly — a church, our table on Thursday nights, or both.

Being unsure doesn't disqualify you from anything. Plenty of men have prayed some version of "I want to believe — help me where I don't." That's an honest prayer and God isn't offended by it. You're welcome at our table with every question you've got, whether you ever land on yes or not.
